About

The AAAA (quad-A) record is the IPv6 equivalent of the A record. It maps a domain name to a 128-bit IPv6 address. As IPv4 addresses become increasingly scarce, IPv6 adoption is growing, making AAAA records more important.

The name "AAAA" comes from the fact that IPv6 addresses are four times longer than IPv4 addresses (128 bits vs 32 bits). Modern operating systems and browsers prefer IPv6 when available, so having AAAA records can improve connectivity for users on IPv6 networks.
